Sodium Perborate Monohydrate is an oxidative preservative used in various applications including Genteal lubricating eye drops. When applied topically, it converts to water, oxygen, and hydrogen peroxide through catalase activity. Its antimicrobial properties stem from oxidation of cell membranes, membrane-bound enzymes, and disruption of protein synthesis. Demonstrated efficacy against Aspergillus niger.
