Product Description
Calcium peroxide is a white or yellowish solid peroxide which slowly decomposes to release oxygen at a controlled rate when in contact with hydrous media. As one of the most temperature-stable inorganic oxygen release compounds, it decomposes slowly in moist air, is practically insoluble in water, and dissolves in acids to form hydrogen peroxide.
The pure compound is white, though commercial samples often appear yellowish. Calcium peroxide (CaO2) is the peroxide (O22−) salt of Ca2+ and is almost insoluble in water.
