Description

Magnesium silicate adsorbent (xMgO·ySiO2·nH2O) is one of the series of products of silicate. The appearance is a white amorphous solid particles with good fluidity, which belongs to the solid amphoteric compounds. The particles form a porous structure with performance of deacidification, decolorization and deodorization, adsorption of potassium and sodium ions and excellent filtering medium.

Magnesium silicate adsorbent has been widely used in polyether refining. It can adsorb acid, alkali, and potassium/sodium ions in crude polyether. The porous adsorbent has excellent adsorption effect on pigment and odor in polyether products, achieving effective refining.

Application

For crude polyether polyol in refining kettle:

  1. Add 1% ~ 5% (w/w) of water at certain temperature, stirring
  2. Neutralize material pH to 4 ~ 6 with 75% phosphoric acid
  3. Control average temperature below 80°C
  4. Add 0.1% ~ 0.5% magnesium silicate adsorbent (or magnesium silicate: aluminum silicate =1:1 (w/w) hybrid adsorbent)
  5. Stir and heat to proper temperature (e.g., 110±5°C) for vacuum dewatering
  6. Control dehydration rate until moisture content meets requirement (e.g., less than 0.1%)
  7. Perform thermal material circulation filtering (e.g., 110±5°C, pressure 2~4KPa)
  8. Analyze circulating filtrate for K+ (Na+) ion concentration
  9. Collect clear filtrate to obtain qualified polyether polyol
