Upon decomposition, it breaks down into oxygen, water, and sodium carbonate, making it an environmentally safe bleaching agent.

Uncoated sodium percarbonate is widely used in fish farming and agricultural applications. It serves as an important oxidizing agent for preparing trimethyl cyclopentenyl acetaldehyde and Epoxydihydrolinalool.
